Realistic sounds with character!

Just got this in the discount and it's amazing. As a mixing engineer I can say they don't fit in the mix without some adjustments, because they are on the dark side. But that's also what makes them great. NI's piano are rather bright (probably EQ'ed) and that makes them sound as samples. These UVI piano's are just the realistic sounds you'd expect from a piano recording. A Pultec EQ or lift EQ will get them in the mix nicely. These piano's have character!

Key word: WARM. Very intimate piano sounds.

As an owner of both Ivory II and the Native Instruments pianos, I will say that these are the winner if you are going for soft, warm or intimate piano. I just got this, so I haven't done a side by side yet, but just going through the raw presets, I am loving the essence these pianos have. I am a big fan of the NI Maverick and Gentleman also, but I can see myself using these a whole bunch. I think they will take some clever EQing to make them stand out in rock mixes, where Ivory and NI have some presets that are almost there. But again, I haven't tried them in mixes yet, so this is just speculation. I got this set on the 60% off sale + AudioDeluxe's discount, it was like $86. I feel like I just got away with something!

The only thing I wish they had was more presets and options (lid position, stereo width, pedal/key/hammer noises, velocity curves, dynamics controls, resonances, etc). The Steinway and Fazioli have a few of those in the script preset, but the C7, Erard and upright don't have any. That's the only bummer.

But again, 5 beautiful pianos for that price... definitely worth it once you hear them. Just may need to add some EQ, reverb, etc when mixing. Stop thinking about it and go buy this collection now.

Great Purchase

These are very warm sounding and a joy to play. At the discounted price they were a real bargain!
I also use Alicia's Keys for Kontakt which is also good - although it's a bit heavy on the CPU and can slow up the computer a bit. The UVI piano's seem lighter on the CPU load and are a bit more usable and very versatile having the 5 different contrasting pianos.

If you like The Native Instruments Pianos you'll LOVE these!
I am not knocking the NI products! these sound different from the NI pianos.
The UVI pianos sound warmer and bigger in the mix, I caught mine on sale for 60% off.
worth every single penny!

like the different pianos on offer

Totally agree with 2nd comment. Unless you can have full demo to physically try yourself then you have to keep your fingers crossed they will be fine for what you want. But I have to say I like the different pianos Uvi have on offer here and may take the plunge at the discounted price.

No hands-on demo...FAIL!

I have the same complaint about these pianos that I have about every other virtual piano instrument that won't let you try before you buy---namely, the pre-recorded demos are useless for the purpose of determining what the pianos will sound like in a mix with other instruments.

Sure...they might be accurate representations of what the pianos sound like by themselves, but that tells me nothing about how they will sound with other instruments. I have a hard drive full of piano libraries that sound great on their own, but sound very much less good in a mix.

The solution is one that is (apparently) so obvious it seems to escape piano instrument vendors. Why not let users have a hands-on demo or trial version---something they can actually try in a mix? Make the trial version fully functional (not crippled), but time-limit it for 30 days, or 15 days, or whatever.

These might be great pianos, and the discounted price makes the package very attractive. But no matter how inexpensive they are, or how good they MIGHT sound in a mix, I won't find out. I'm tired of spending money on piano instruments that I can't try first.
